The lesson

Give every survey section a one-line finding and a builder's takeaway the reader can act on, not just charts.

The move

A huge monospaced "State of AI" opens the page, then provider logos and a six-part contents list. Sections 01 to 03 each pair a headline finding ("OpenAI is leading model adoption, but competition is catching up") with key insights and a takeaway such as "Start small, stay flexible". Bar charts hatch every bar except the top one.

Why it works

  • Our readThe takeaway box turns a data point into an instruction, so a builder gets advice as well as numbers.
  • Our readSolid black for the leading bar and hatching for the rest makes the winner readable at a glance in each bar chart.
  • Our readNumbered, ruled sections feel like a product's documentation, which fits a report aimed at people who build.

What not to copy

Don't copy the section titles, which are about AI. Keep the pairing of finding plus takeaway, and check that your chart labels render correctly before publishing.
