The lesson

Mark every roadmap item with how committed it is, so a reader can tell a promise from a hope.

The move

In this Pitch Unfairly rebuild of a 2006 Tesla roadmap, one slide reads "Now is committed. Next is planned. Later is a direction." Its three cards carry COMMITTED, PLANNED and DIRECTION with three, two and one filled segments; Later has a dashed border. The Next slide reads "DATE When the Roadster has paid for it" and "NAME Not yet".

Why it works

  • Our readA segment meter plus a dashed edge makes the confidence level visible before anyone reads the text.
  • Our readWriting "NOT DATED" on the second and third cars states what is unknown instead of inventing dates.
  • Our readThe slide "The goal isn't a car. It's a solar electric economy." strikes through "Mine and burn" and frames the cars as outputs serving a stated outcome.

What not to copy

Don't copy the blueprint styling or the Roadster specs. Keep the three-tier commitment labels and a goal slide that sits above the product list.
