The lesson

Make the ask the cover headline, then show the valuation it implies, so negotiation can start from the opening slides.

The move

A Pitch Unfairly deck rebuilt from a television pitch. The cover is "$100K for 10% of a sponge that smiles." Next: "Asking 10% for $100K says this sponge is worth $1M" with cash and equity sliders. A "TURN THE TAP" slider demos the product, and a later bar slide sets "2 to 3" against "200 to 300".

Why it works

  • Our readStating the implied valuation on slide two does the math for the room and invites a negotiation, which suits a live pitch.
  • Our readThe problem slide has three labeled flaws ("Too soft", "Too scratchy", "Too smelly") with red X marks, which makes them easy to repeat.
  • Our readThe "WHY ME" timeline ("3M bought his company and left the sponges behind.") answers why this founder with a story in four steps.

What not to copy

These are story figures, not evidence, so don't cite them. Keep the ask-first cover and the product shown doing the one thing it is sold for.
