The lesson

Open a review with the decisions you need and the bad news first; save good news until the board has read the ask.

The move

A Monsters, Inc. quarterly review rebuilt by Pitch Unfairly opens "Kids stopped screaming. We found a better fuel." Slide 2 lists "We need three yeses" and points to decisions on slide 10. A later slide, labelled LOWLIGHTS, FIRST, shows four cards, and the highlights slide comes after it.

Why it works

  • Our readA TL;DR table of Screams, Incident and Found sits beside the ask, so a reader who stops at slide 2 still knows what is being requested.
  • Our readFive priorities shown as red, yellow and green lights ("two red, two yellow, one green") make last quarter's status scannable before any chart.
  • Our readA "Sort by screams / Sort by laughs" toggle sits beside the leaderboard, with "same floor, new scoreboard" written below it, which argues for the new metric.

What not to copy

The scorecard marks its figures as illustrative, so replace them with real ones and don't invent precision. Keep the ask on slide 2 and the order of lowlights, then highlights.
