The lesson

Frame a launch as the third entry in a short list of category-changing products, then reveal it as three products in one device.

The move

A 2007 launch keynote rebuilt as a deck by Pitch Unfairly. The cover reads "Today, we reinvent the phone." Slide two lines up 1984 Macintosh, 2001 iPod and 2007 Today under "Mac changed computers. iPod changed music. Today, phones." A problem chart follows, then "Three products. One device." with three icons, then columns: A phone, An iPod, The Internet.

Why it works

  • Our readThe timeline ends on "One revolutionary product makes a career. This is the third.", setting the size of the news before any feature appears.
  • Our readThe reveal slide has a "Replay the reveal" button, so the presenter can repeat the one-line payoff on demand.
  • Our readEach slide shown holds one claim in a two-tone headline, with the blue half carrying the point.

What not to copy

Don't borrow the 1984 and 2001 history unless your company has a comparable past. Keep the structure of problem chart, three-in-one reveal, then one column per job.
