The lesson

In a win-back, quote the buyer's own reason for losing verbatim, then show what you changed for each one.

The move

A win-back deck rebuilt by Pitch Unfairly opens on "In vain have I struggled. So I made a deck." Next, an account record stamped "CLOSED · LOST" gives "Reason given, verbatim": "Had you behaved in a more gentlemanlike manner." Objections are sorted into "Fix it", "Explain it" and "Change it", and charges are later struck through beside actions taken.

Why it works

  • Our readQuoting the loss reason back, with "gentlemanlike" underlined, shows the seller listened and puts the blame where the buyer put it.
  • Our readSorting objections by response type tells the reader which ones are conceded and which are disputed.
  • Our readThe disputed charge gets a ledger (£1,000, £3,000, £3,879 paid to Mr. Wickham) plus a witness line, so the rebuttal is evidence rather than argument.

What not to copy

The period voice and the 1813 details are the joke. Keep the verbatim loss reason, the triage of objections and the struck-through before-and-after list.
