The lesson

Let the audience flip your key assumption to the real value on the slide, so the risk is visible and your confidence still reads.

The move

A 1492 seed deck rebuilt by Pitch Unfairly. The math slide says "On our math, Japan is 2,400 miles west." with a slider and three buttons: COLUMBUS, 1492 / ERATOSTHENES'S EARTH / THE REAL MAP. The market slide uses nested circles and puts "1 Great Khan, Letter of introduction: signed" in the smallest one.

Why it works

  • Our readOpening with "On our math" marks the figure as an assumption and shows the working beside it.
  • Our readThe smallest market circle holds a signed letter, which treats a concrete asset as traction instead of a share-of-market guess.
  • Our readThe problem slide stamps "TAKES A CUT" on three middlemen above "Your kitchen in Castile", so the pain lands on the investor's own table.

What not to copy

The figures are part of a historical joke, not data to cite. Keep the toggle that lets a skeptic test your assumption and the tie from the problem to the buyer's own cost.
