The lesson

In the old-game section, name the old way as a gamble with one slide: a full-bleed image and one quoted sentence.

The move

The slide is a dark, neon-lit photo of people at slot machines with one line over it: "Marketing today is all about gaming the system and get rich quick schemes." It sits in the old-game section, which the deck places ahead of the shift, the new game, Drift's own numbers and the Blockbuster warning.

Why it works

  • Our readThe casino image makes "gaming the system" literal, so the picture and the sentence say the same thing.
  • Our readThe line is written as a quote in the buyer's world, which lets the seller criticize the status quo without naming a competitor.
  • Our readOne sentence on one slide leaves nothing to compete with the claim.

What not to copy

Don't copy the casino metaphor unless your category has an equivalent. Keep the order: name the broken old game first, with an image the audience recognizes.
