The lesson

Build a customer story around the customer's own engineers explaining why simple beats flexible, and let your product's restraint be the argument.

The move

The title is "Why OpenAI chose Linear and scaled to 3,000 users", above a yellow-blue gradient with the OpenAI logo, then a fact row: Founded, Switched "November 2023", Company size "5,300". Sections like "Simplicity scales" and "When culture meets the right tools" are broken up by large pull quotes from engineers Gabriel Peal and Atty Eleti.

Why it works

  • Our readThe "Why ... chose" title frames the whole page as a decision about tools.
  • Our readThe quote "Often tools have a lot of features..." argues against feature-heavy tools in an engineer's voice, which sells Linear's restraint without a pitch.
  • Our readThe fact row (Founded, Switched, Company size) gives context in a glance before the long read.

What not to copy

Peal's closing line, "You just have to use it and you'll see. You'll just feel it.", leans on the engineers' earlier case. Keep the engineer quotes and the contrast with feature-heavy tools.
