The lesson

Turn expert opinion into a benchmark: ask many practitioners the same two questions and publish every answer next to public comps.

The move

The issue asks "What do you consider GOOD and GREAT retention?" and answers by business type, such as "Consumer social: ~25% is GOOD, ~45% is GREAT". A colour-banded chart summarizes it up top. Category headers then list named expert recommendations, usually followed by public comps, most with source links.

Why it works

  • Our readA GOOD and GREAT figure per category is quotable, and listing each expert's own figure lets a skeptical reader see the spread.
  • Our readA "Disclaimer: Why it may be OK for your retention to be low" section argues against a harsh reading of the numbers, which makes them easier to trust.

What not to copy

Don't copy the retention topic or the roster of experts. Keep the format: the same questions to everyone, many named answers, public comps with links, and a summary chart people can screenshot.
