The lesson

Announce a revenue milestone by arguing against the overnight-success story, then back it with efficiency and culture numbers.

The move

The body opens with "Clay crossed $100M ARR this week." and the line "From the outside, it looks like an overnight success", then lists over 200% enterprise net revenue retention and 15x return on each dollar. Sticky-note graphics show ">200%" Enterprise NRR, "15x" and "5.0" Glassdoor. The text closes on "We're proud to be an eight-year overnight success".

Why it works

  • Our readAdmitting the success looks sudden and then listing six years of work makes the milestone read as earned rather than lucky.
  • Our readThe three note graphics close a post about a revenue number, so it also claims retention, capital efficiency and culture alongside growth.
  • Our readThe bolded paragraph openings ("Our growth is anchored in strong foundations") give a skimmer the argument without reading the paragraphs.

What not to copy

Don't copy the numbers or the Glassdoor claim without your own to match. Keep the reframe of the milestone and three proof points in one graphic.
