The lesson

Take a famous model apart in public, say why it wouldn't work for you, then tell readers exactly who your fix is not for.

The move

The post opens with "Scaling from 50 to 100 employees almost killed our company." It describes Amazon's Single-Threaded Owner model, lists two reasons it was impractical, then introduces Mission-Aligned Teams. It says "But it's NOT for everyone", names under 50 people and Amazon-scale as exceptions, and includes a six-panel org-chart cartoon covering Amazon, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple and Super.com.

Why it works

  • Our readAdmitting limits ("under 50 people", "Amazon-scale") lets a reader decide if it applies, which makes the claims easier to believe.
  • Our readThe cartoon puts the author's structure next to five companies the reader already knows, so the comparison needs no explaining.

What not to copy

Don't copy the revenue claims, which are the author's own. Keep a named, recognized model to push against and an explicit list of who shouldn't use your answer.
