Colorado OEDIT proposal

The lesson

Title a pitch with the named buyer and a date on the cover, so the document is plainly written for one decision-maker.

The move

The cover reads "COLORADO PROPOSAL PALANTIR 6.1.2020" in large white condensed capitals over a photograph of snow-dusted mountains and aspen-coloured hillside. "COLORADO OFFICE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & INTERNATIONAL TRADE" runs along the lower left, with the OEDIT logo in a red block at bottom right.

Why it works

  • Our readPutting the recipient's name in the title tells the reader the document was made for them, not recycled.
  • Our readThe landscape stands in for the place being offered, so the pitch for relocating shows what the move looks like before any argument.
  • Our readThe full agency name and logo sit low on the cover, so the title stays on Colorado and Palantir alone.

What not to copy

Don't use a scenic photo if you aren't selling a place. Keep the recipient's name and a date in the title.
